Spotlight on Head Bartender Andrea Tateosian
Head Bartender Andrea Tateosian (or Drea) entered the hospitality arena while working her way through college. After receiving a bachelor’s degree in International Affairs and Business from Boston’s Northeastern University, she came to DC to work in international business. She began her bartending career at U Street speakeasy The Gibson, as she juggled a full-time position in anti-money laundering; however, a transformative experience at Tales of the Cocktail steered her toward fully pursuing her passion for hospitality.
Drea’s approach to mixology is experiential, and she enjoys working with more obscure ingredients including fortified wines like quinquinas, vermouths, and other low-proof liquors. By increasing the approachability of such often-overlooked ingredients, Drea brings excitement back to craft cocktails and elevates the overall experience at Urbana’s Italian-leaning bar. When Drea isn’t mixing up Mediterranean-inspired libations, she can be found reading, lip-syncing to '90s ballads, or riding her bike to various local bars.
